Computer doesn't start up at all
Hi. I'm new to this forum and I have a pretty weird computer problem. Namely, the computer doesn't start up, at all. No XP, no boot screen, no bois, nothing. In fact, the moniter doesn't even register anything. Even worse, the keyboard and mouse doesn't register anything. The keyboard doesn't light up and neither does the mouse. Prior to this happening, the computer has been making a lot of jamming sounds but a kick or two would usually set it back. Then one day all of a sudden, I pressed the power button and the computer just doesnt start up. The power is working as all the fans are working and the dvd drive pops out. I'm thinking that it might be the motherboard's problem but I then I got an motherboard RMA a few days ago and the computer still doesn't boot. Can it be the CPU that's causing the problem? Or is it something else?
System specs:
Abit IS7E motherboard
1gig Consair PC 3200 DDR
Saphaire ATI 9600PRO
120gig Western Digital HD
Can anyone help me out please? Thanks =]

I had similar problem, but with new comp, there are 2 power supplies I had to plug into the MB but I only plugged in the (ATX I believe?) larger one, there is a second 12V one, perhaps thats malfunctioning?

Thanks for the reply. Hmm, I'm not sure it's a power connection though as everything went smoothly before. And I even got a new motherboard from Abit's RMA yet the same problem occurs. For some reason, when I push the power button now, it's missing the usual beep when it starts. Hm, would that have to do with anything?

Even if it was the CPU you'd get a red light from the board.
I would agree with yoni45 as to checking your power plugs to the board.
There should be a main connection (large plug) & a low voltage (small / 4 pins).
I looked at your board here but didn't have time to download the manual:

As to the kicking
You might want to take everything out & Re-seat all components.
Hope this helps

problem could be with the power supply as opposed to the motherboard, the connection may be fine, but the source of the 12V PSU might be screwed (internally within the power supply), try replacing or testing with another one. When I didn't have the 12V PSU plugged in I had the exact same problem on the dot, there was no post beep, monitor didnt register anything when computer was turned on, however fans were working, as well as the hard drives, CD Drives etc, and the front LEDs...

Hmm, I guess that could be a problem. Well, guess I'll just have to wait until microcenter is open or something. Worse comes to worse, it's out with the old and in with the new =p
Thanks for the help guys. And Happy New Year!
