Smile Problems with Belkin USB Videobus Sound

For the last few months I have been successfully using Belkin USB Videobus to capture videos with no problem. However a hard drive crash in October meant that everything needed to be reloaded including a proper version of Windows XP (previously using a copied version) and Service Pack 2. Ever since then, when I attempt to capture video, the picture is fine but I am getting no sound when I play back what I have captured. I used to use Windows Movie Maker to edit the video and not MGI Video Wave III which came with the card but coincidentally the MGI software does not work now either and I get a message saying 'An unsupported operation was attempted' when I try to open it. I don't care so much about getting the software working but if anyone can shed any light as to how I can get the sound to work again I would be eternally grateful.

My husband has had a look at our sound card and drivers but apparently it is not compatible with Windows XP Pro and the current drivers are the latest ones we can download. It is very frustrating that the sound on the video capture card worked when we had a copied version of XP and before we downloaded Service Pack 2 but not now! Anyway, thanks for your suggestion because that was something that we had not thought of.

Thanks so much spud! That is the site where my husband downloaded the original drivers from, but after reading your post, he uninstalled the original drivers and downloaded the alternative ones instead and now all is working again and I have my sound back! Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to help, it has really made my day!
