    Computer Wont Load!!!

I need some help. When I turn on my computer, everything starts as usual, until it gets to loading my desktop. The background wallpaper will appear, but that is it. No icons, no panels, nothing. When I press ctrl+alt+del the window will appear, but from there, the computer will not allow me to do anything. I have also tried manually shutting down the computer and simply unplugging it. Nothing has worked. PLEASE HELP!!!

When you pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and the Task Manager window appeared, was anything listed in the window? Did anything that was listed say 'Not responding' next to it?

I'm betting you're running Windows 98 and the Task Manager window says 'Msgsvr32 (not responding)' in it. Don't know why I'm feeling lucky but, hey, it's worth a guess, lol

I have the exact same problem. I fixed it by unplugging my printer then turning on my computer. Its really weird. Basically i can turn on my computer with the printer unattached, then attach it once my pc is on and it works fine. I still dont really know wats causeing windows to not load, and i have a thread on it here also its: http://www.d-a-l.com/help/showthread.php?t=13100

I'd be interested to know if unpluggin ur printer fixes it for you like it did for me.(if you even have a usb printer attached.)

in my situation i think there were a few windows process running, and i was able to acess the task manager(this is under winxp) In fact i could even acess the run under the taskmanger, and run simple programs like paint.
