I use an oldish pc every so often running on windows nt
It was fine last night and switched off ok saving settings etc then this morning I press the power button and nothing ! NO lights no sound, no monitor switching on --dead . I checked the fuse in the cable to the power supply and even changed the cable from pc to power source nothing ?? !

Any clues what is wrong please ?

    thanks

welcome to d-a-l the online computer help forum

this prob could be caused by an internal fuse in the power supply unit blowing

although i am not an electrician my self the fuse is in side the box that provides the power to the computer what ever you do do not attempt this your self but take it to your local pc shop so they can check it out properly i think this is your problem

but it may be that youe motherboard has had a critical malfunction but then the guys at the pc shop can confirm this for you
i hope it is an internal fuse as they can rectify this quite easily for you

i hope i have been of some help other people wil have a look at this thread and help if they can but i think i am on the right track
if this solves your problem could you plese let us know

    thanks spud

    cheers spud

Is the monitor connected to the PC power supply ?

If you connect the monitor power to the mains does the monitor power up?

is there a switch on your power supply that's been switched to off...I'm not being funny or anything but that happened to me and it's frustrating

Not Sure Where The Power Supply Switch Would Be Found To See If It S On Or Not ?

    Thank You

If there is a switch it'll be a little rocker switch by the power input...if not that apart from psu failure dont know what it could be...sorry
