possible IRQ and pci card problems
hey, my sound card and network (lan) card both share the same IRQ (11) and i am experiancing lots of crashes and lockups could this be the problem? If so how can i allocate them different IRQ's?
Thanks

It's usually OK for 2 devices to share IRQ's. Way back in the mists of my youth, IBM decided that it was unlikely that anyone would ever need more than 16 devices attatched to a PC (same company estimated the worlds need for mainframe PC's to be roughly... Five!). Anyhow .....
Look in My Computer for conflicting devices. You probably have none, which would normally be OK'ish - unfortunately I reckon you have a Creative soundcard and Creative seem to think they own IRQ 5.
So if you can wiggle the settings, or even pull the cards out and replace them differently, then doing so may help - and if you can get the SCard on 5, then Bonus!
Let us know how it goes

yeah i have a really old crappy creative sound card, well i will jig them about abit. Thanks for your help
EDIT: that still didnt help
somebody told me to run prime95 to test stabillity but that just crashes the same after about 20 seconds

OK, how's about we go back to basics? Uninstall your SCard - LanCard - Any other cards till something starts working ok...... or
....you can just re-install your OS?
Choose the first route - sorry dude but Iam like megga tired - post back and I'll try again - refreshed...zzzz.... sorry

its ok dude
I have done a fresh format so it's not software problems it's got to be hardware. I will try it with one thing out at a time, i have tried it with out sound card so i will try it without the lan card next.
thanks for responding
