motherboard help
hello can anyone help me please.
I have a mesh 900hmz pc from the uk.128min ram.
When i boot the pc i get 1 beep then , 2 more beep. The motherboard is asus a7v i think.
When the pc boots up all i get is the beeps.Nothing comes up and i can't see the bios.Even the mem test does'nt come up.All pcs come up with boot information like cpu, mem, etc.None of this comes up at all.But i do think the harddrive is working. The harddrive is new aswell.
Is this graphic card trouble or mem.
Please e-mail knightrider9026@yahoo.co.uk

when you boot up are your power led lighting up and will it boot up with another hdd
-
yes the power led comes on.I try the harddrive on a other pc works fine. The boot information does'nt come up.I have even take out the my ge-force and it still does the beep.
I just get a black screen and no boot up information.I don't think it's the hdd cause it works fine on a second pc.
I get 1 beep , then 2 more beep.I have try alot push the ram right in ,push all leads in.try anything.
The last time i test this pc was fine. The only thing removed was the hdd.I got a brand new one for it a day ago.
I can't find my books cause the pc is old.

The beeps are your BIOS's attempts to tell you what the startup (or as the initial startup is known as, the POST - Power On Self test)
We need to know what BIOS your system is using ie AWARD - AMI - PHEONIX... the BIOS name will show on your monitor, if you can see it, which you obviously cant, so we need now to know the motherboard model - no guessing.
BIOS Beeps and meanings can be found here:
1. Click on my Name below HippyWarlock' to visit my site. Click on the Forum Button in the Nav bar on the LHS of the screen (ignore the rest of the site it's an FTP upload error by me)
2. Click 'Solutions: BIOS & Motherboard'
3. Click Understanding POST beeps & Messages
========================
It sounds like an AMI BIOS ie:
1 long - 2 short Indicates a video error has occurred
Hence no graphics display. Check your card is seated correctly, your leads are secure and your card actually works.

I had this problem with my gigabyte mainboard. Turned out that all I needed to do was remove my ram, clean the slots and re-insert.

Go here and check the beeps:

In the meantime a quick look shows:
1 long 2 short - Award BIOS - Video error
