Modem trouble
Can someone please help me. I'm trying to connect to my ISP through an internal modem, but only receive Error Message 633:"The modem(or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly.
I went through the configurations and they seemed ok. There are no hardware conflicts in the device manager as well. The modem is a Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR.
Thank you

Go into the Modems section in Control Panel. There should be a Diagnostics tab which lists your COM ports (either physical or virtual) and whether you've got any devices using them.
Against one of the virtual COM ports, you should see your modem listed. Highlight it and click More Info. If the modem is configured/installed properly, it will think about it for a few seconds and will then return a load of diagnostics data. If it's not set up right, you'll get an error ("Port already open" is a common one) pretty much straight away.
Let us know what happens and we'll give you some advice from there
