i dropped my laptop (a Toshiba Portege 3440ct) a while back and now, as you can expect have a few problems!!!

well at first i thought the problems were terminal, but after i calmed down and have had a second look i can see that it may not be so bad

anyway, the first problem is the screen which flickers, or turns off and is very temperemantal, sometimes it can only flicker slightly, and others it can go compleatly, although it always turns on at first. though when i turn it to the light i can see the screen, but like a negative

the thing is, is that with every flicker there is a kinda electrical noise from the right bottom, which is where the damage is!

which when i opened it up is where this bit is

i dont know what this is, but its making a noise!

the second is that when the screen works it will load up but then stop at this screen

this also leads me to belive its the hard drive!

anyway, thats all i know, im not very technical minded, but i can take things apart and put then back together again

so, could you plaese tell me what you think the screen fault is, and if you think the hard drives at fault, or even if that IS the hard drive! and if so HOW

Had the same flicker problem - turned out to be the conector, but yours sounds a bit different.... anyhow check the ribbon connector is tight.
