First time!
Hi all! Can someone please help me!
My problem is that I have a DV camcorder and a brand new PC and I have no idea how to connect the two. I have been told that I will need a Video card? however there are too many to choose from and I have no idea what type of cable to use. I have tried connecting the two with a USB cable but the PC will only recognise the digital camera function. All I want to do is upload the footage from the camera and store it on my hard-drive and eventually burn it onto a DVD. I think I have 'windows video editing software' which came with the PC but no other cables or cards. If anyone can help me with this matter then it would be much appreciated. Cheers......Dean

Here's a few questions for you.
As Per The Camcorder:- What's the make and model of your camcorder?
- Did it come with software (i.e. CD or Floppy Disk)?
- Did it come with any extra wires?
As Per Your PC:- What version of Windows is running on your computer?
- What kinds of connections do you see on the back of your computer?
If you could let me know about those things I should be able to give you a solution.

Hi,
You will need a Firewire card and cable to get digital video from that DV Camera. You can buy a Firewire Card and cable for £50/$80 depending where you shop.
This wil explain how and what exactly it is you need - http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...er_wizard1.htm
