Single or Dual processor, P4 or AMD ?

I have been asked to build a computer that will be used mainly for CAD e.g Maya, 3Ds Max and for DVD burning/authoring.

    1. Should I use P4 3.06Ghz or 3.40Ghz ?

    2. Single or Dual processors

    3. If Dual processors, should I use P4,Xeon or AMD.

    I really need advice.

    Thanks

As no-one's answered you here are my thoughts:

Any newish CPU will easily handle the DVD burning (more RAM = better, up to about 756Mb).

Single or DUAL? XP (and Linux) support dual CPU's. 95/98 etc don't.

Dual CPU's are not twice as quick, the doftware has to be written (as well as the OS see above) with DCPU processing in mind.

    XEON - Cost (ouch)
    AMD - Cost (yippee)

Personally I'd get the fastest AMD CPU on a fast mobo with fast RAM.

Did I say fast drives too? fast everything but single AMD CPU
