    StandBy???

For the last month i cant use my pc for more than 15 minutes, it goes into a stand by mode and when i try to turn the screen on it says no signal. I pressed the menu button on my monitor and it says OFF MODE but the pc is still on. I have to shut the pc and wait for 5 mins before i can turn it back on.
    Please help

Do you want a quick answer that just avoids it doing what it's doing wrong .... or do you want someone to try and talk you through diagnosing what it's doing wrong so that you can get power saving modes to work properly?

On the assumption that avoiding the problem is a resolution, I would stop it going into standby mode in the first place. To do this, go to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options. change the 'System standby' option from "15 minutes" to "Never". These instructions are correct for Windows 2000 but may be a little different for other operating systems.

    Does that help?

I did what you said and at first i thought it worked but it didnt. Its still doing the same thing. I put all the options avaible to never and it still keeps shutting after 20 minutes, and i cant turn it back straight away.

OK, there's going to be a similar answer to the problem (for the benefit of others, your message said that it was fixed .... before you edited it).

If power saving settings somehow got enabled in Windows, you might also find that they've somehow switched on in the BIOS.

Reboot the PC and, as soon as the power comes on, press F2 and Delete alternately every second until the blue BIOS screen appears. There will be a menu screen presented that will have something like 10 options. Using your cursor keys (usually), find the one that relates to power management. In that screen, ensure that it is all disabled including any suspend / hibernate / standby / power-saving options. Exit the BIOS, saving the changes (there will normally be a list of valid key commands at the bottom of the screen to tell you how to do that).

The PC will reboot and load Windows as usual. Leave it 20 minutes and see if it's cured. Let us know if it is. If it isn't let us know what operating system you've got and we'll see if there's anything else to look at

Maybe fiddle with the buttons on your monitor and see if there's something you can do with those to reset things right? My buddy had a similar issue and he fixed it that way.

Hey I found some things that may be going on, but before I say anything specific, what's the make and model of your monitor? Actually, one thing I can tell you to do is look at the plug from the monitor that plugs into the computer and make sure there's no bent prongs on it, and also no clearly visible deficienies into the port into which you plug the monitor. Let me know!

The wires and plugs are fine. The make and model is A726 Packard Bell.

I'm sorry to say, the only solutions will probably cost you some $$$$$. I found a bunch of people who experienced the same exact problem as you. Here's one person who solved it:

It took me a while but I found out that the problem was coming from the power supply. The video card wasn't getting enough power and wasn't functioning right. I was using the No-Name PSU that came with the case, I replaced it with a Zalman 350W. It has never had that problem since.
You can replace the power supply with a different brand name, that part doesn't matter. Everyone else replaced their monitor under the warranty. I recently have replaced my power supply, and it only cost about $24. Monitors I've seen run anywhere from $20-$2000+. That's what I got. If anyone else has another way, please tell HAKS it.
