Pc wont start, Monitor light just keeps flashing...help

    Hey,

My cousin had a working amd athlon xp 2000 pc with 512k ram, cant remember the name of the motherboard, cd rw drive, dvd drive.

He took out the power supply and put it in another machine and wen he put it back in, it smoked, he then bought some more parts for it, motherboard, graphics card and power supply, then he gave it to me to setup, I had a go and after a lot of inspection I had noticed how most of the internal components wouldnt attach to the motherboard, so i told him to get a new motherboard, he got a "lanparty" motherboard, then tested it, still wouldnt work , so then after more hours of looking around with it we thought it was the cpu so he bought a new athlon xp 2000 processor, we tried that but again it wouldnt work .

I cant think what else it could be
The monitor light just keeps flashing on and off when pc is powered up. Also as soon as the power supply is turned on the keyboard lights flash and then when the actual computer power switch is pressed no keyboard lights come on and when i press the number lock keys the button doesnt light up
Another thing, from what I can tell there is no hard disk activity but the hard disk hasnt blown as iv tried a working one with it.
    The psu is 300w

    thanks in advance!!!

Hey, do you get any internal fans powering up at all like on the CPU or graphics card? Would have to take the case off to check this.

for anyone that wanted to know the problem was fixed, it had this pc shop baffled but after they found out it was the casings fault cause the on switch wasnt linked up
