Switches
Alright, im stupid with all networking this, but I have two computers, with a internet connection shared by a switch. Is there any way to turn that into a home network, or do I have to buy a hub.

Hi,
You can network the PC's with a single network cable or get yourself a router and also do it that way. Do the PC's have network cards?

yeah they both do, but i want to use my high-speed connection, which comes through the cable

Yes all you need is a Broadband Router which usually has a four port switch built in to it. You connect cable (RG 45 to WAN port) from modem to WAN on Router with a RG45. RG 45 from switch ports to the NICS on PC's. Give Router an IP of 192.168.1.x (default GATEWAY) Then give PC's same IP with different number where the X is (all have to be unique).Put IP of gateway in PC's via Network properties (run wizard) ADD ISP DNS servers VIA start>run>cmd>ipconfig/all . Then just clone WAN IP in router with main PC MAC ....Presto you have a network LAN.....Routing PACKETS
PS. enter router using browser ex.IE via (usaually 192.169.1.1)
Try post back and members will walk you through it !!!
hope this helps a bit..
and no HUBS ,,,slows ya down colisions switches are better (csma/cd--broadcasts)
