Post Norton Firewall & AOL Instant Messenger

I just installed Norton Internet Security 2004 and had no issues other than my wife and daughters AOL instant messenger is not working. I don't use the crap but I can't get my wife or daughter to listen. So my life has been miserable since the install. The manual was no help. Any help I can get would be greatly APPRECIATED!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) or Norton Internet Security but can tell you that AIM runs on port 5190. If you can open up traffic on that port in Norton then I can't see why it wouldn't work.

    Hope that helps.

probably need to change a setting. i found this regarding msn messenger, maybe try the same looking for aol:

NORTON PERSONAL FIREWALL 2003 MSN MESSENGER SETTINGS:
You need to give MSN messenger full access.

Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.

    Click Personal Firewall.

    Click Configure.

On the Programs Tab, scroll through the Manual Program Control window.
Find MSN messenger, verify that the Internet Access setting is "Permit All"
If it is on Deny or anything else, set it to Permit All.
If you do not find MSN messenger in this list, you must create a rule to
allow this program access to the internet.
