    Angry Norton Firewall advanced settings

I have just installed Norton Internet Security 2005. I was able to connect online but not browse or use email. I solved the problem in advanced settings by permitting almost everything. Problem is I do not understand all the options or why they were all blocked by default. Where can I find out what these options are and what I should do about them?

    Many thanks

Many thanks to spud for the reply. I needed more specific help to identify each item. I had already been to the link he suggested. Just after posting, I had a major crash an d decided to reformat and start a clean installation so I just got the reply. For future reference, I need to learrn more about each of the options I can permit or block. I still appreciate Spud taking the time to reply.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Your best bet is entering the file name that is automatically blocked (filename.exe) into Google and you'll usually find some info on it. Firewalls automatically block some programs by default that are known to leave holes in your system security.
