    Draft-N vs Wireless-G?

    Hi,

Is there really much benefit to connecting via Wireless-N as opposed to Wireless-G? Will I notice the difference? I'm on a 10mbit connection, with a Draft-N router, and my desktop isn't currently Draft N-compatible, but.. I'm not sure if I'd see much of a difference if it was. I'm considering cisco-routers.co.uk/u/pd/nwd170n-draft-n-10-300mbps-laptop-pc-card/91005159001b/771397 .. any thoughts?

Yes and Yes. But you will only notice a difference if both ends use 11n. And note the protocol has been standardized and approved so there should be no more "draft" - although the packaging may still say draft - check the maker's website for the latest drivers.

Also note that speed and distance are not the only advantages - security is much improved in 11n so that alone makes upgrading all your devices to 11n worth it.

    Thanks very much.

I think I'll go for ramblax.co.uk/p~p-96172624~Linksys-WMP600N-WiFi-80211-N-Dual-Band-PCI-Card-4260039348245.aspx as it seems to be full-N out of the box, rather than Draft-N like a lot of the others, and I'm not really techie enough to play about with drivers.
