Help with wireless network bridge.
Hi all,
Ok so here is my problem:
I live rent a house that shares an internet connection with the house next door ( the house next door is owned by the same letting agency).
I am currently connecting my desktop to the house next door via WLI-U2-SG54HG : Wireless-G High Gain USB 2.0 Adapter. the signal strentgh is not great, and fluctuates between 54mbps-24mbps, the house next door is sepperated via an alley that is about 2 meters in width. the only obstacles are my exterior brick wall - the wirless router nextdoor is situated apstairs next to the window so only really has glass to get through( i have also installed a high gain antenna on the wireless router in the house next door) in additontot his i has made no difference to the signal qaulity =(
Ok, hope the above makes sense.....so i rent a self contained anex on the ground floor.
Now the SONY ps3 is not renound for its wireless capability, so i connect my desktop PC wirlessley and then i bridge the connection to my pc from my PC to my ps3 via an ethernet cable.
The problem i have is that its crap!
can anyone tell me a better way to do it (please bear in mind that i have limited access to the router next door), should i get a repeater? or can i use these new mains adapters that you just plug your ethernet cable into?
im really stuck on how to resolve this issue so any advice, ideas or tips would be so much help.
I am running windows 7 premium 32-bit and the router next door is a netgear DG8343G.
Thanks.

I'm afraid you cannot use the mains adaptors as they only work within the electrical wiring of your house. If the ps3's signal really is that poor and you wish to try another way (wireless bridges are quite expensive I feel) could you not try and see if a friend could lend you a wireless adaptor for pc and wire it up the opposite way, what I mean is connect to the internet with your ps3 through your pc using Internet Connection Sharing. I tried this with my laptop and xbox and it was a pain, you may have more luck however.
I use a netgear wge111 (no longer on sale brand new) ethernet bridge for my xbox to connect to my router and it's given me years of faultless secure connection so with the correct settings and safety measures in place I would recommend a decent one, but like I said, they are expensive so see if you can get one to try and test with first.
Good luck sir
