BT wireless dead again
Hi, My BT Homehub 2.0 (Black one) was fine until it stopped working on wireless, can get it to work on cable, at times can locate connectionj but not connect at all. This has happened before and BT fixed it ( after a strenuous foreign phonecall with many a "pardon" or "can you repeat that") but is there a way I can fix it myself or with your help?
Thanks Lee

Hi Lee,
Do you have the login details for the router? You can normally enter the router's configuration page by going into a web browser such as Internet Explorer and typing the IP address of the browser, e.g. http://192.168.1.1 for example. However, you'll probably need a username and password to get in.
If you are able to log in to the router, you can check or change the wireless settings.
Common issues are:
- Wireless encryption set to a higher level than your laptop can support, e.g. the router wants to encrypt communications to WPA2 standard but your laptop only support WPA;
- Wireless channel (like a radio station frequency) being set to 'Auto' - if this is the case, try Channel 11 (this is the default for the UK) or Channel 6 if that doesn't work;
- Encryption key being messed up - re-enter it on the router and then type the new one into the laptop when it prompts you for it;
- DHCP being switched off on the router.
Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, come back to us.
In fact, come back to us if it's fixed as well - this helps others to know which suggestions are useful and allows us to close the thread!
Thanks.
