Cannot Connect to internet on laptop - Linksys router
I just moved, and tried to set up my wireless internet connection. It was working fine at home, linksys model no: WRT54G, ver.6, hooked to 2 desktop computers and wireless was fine. Right now, i am just hooking the router to the main desktop computer (no other desktops hooked up), and trying to use the laptop.
The internet is working fine on the desktop, and it says that my laptop is connected and the signal is 'excellent', but when i try to use firefox it says i am not connected. I tried the directions listed in the 'making a home wireless network' that is provided on this page, but it didnt work.
Both my home computers and the new computer i am hooking up to are running XP.
help!!

Make sure that the wire coming out from the modem is going into the router. If the PC is connected directly to the modem, which may have accidentally happened when you set up your connection at the new house.
If everything is connected correctly, hold the reset button somewhere on your router for about 30 seconds. If none of this was any help, I am very sorry, but I do not know anything else that I could possibly do to help. Good luck with your router.

Depends on what kind of wireless router you are using I had a BT one and had to get a guy from Virgin media to come out and drill holes in my walls to connect it straight up and he gave me some speal about it being because i live in an old ouse that has really thick walls and have lead in them or something. I think he was talking S**T but I've never regretted changing back to good old wire straight in the back.
