    Question Desktop to laptop network

I have a desktop and a laptop. Both run on XP Pro. Both connected to a router . Each time I try to connect them as a network I receive the following message. "pc" is not accessible. You might not have permission etc. I've tried just about everything to sort this bit no cure yet. HELP please.

What do you mean "each time I try to connect them as a network"? Do you mean each time you try to access files on each of the computers you get an error?

If so, have you run the Network Setup Wizard and followed the instructions to allow file sharing?

Yes, I've run the wizard several times using different network names but always the same error message.

Are both PCs on the same workgroup? (You can find out this by pressing the Windows Key + Pause Break on your keyboard and then clicking Computer Name). If not then change them both to the same workgroup.

Could you please post the exact error message you are getting aswell please.

Names are same. The exact message is
'computername' is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network path was not found.

    Thanks
