laptop on LAN suddenly can't connect to internet

    Hi

I've got one desktop and a laptop on a home network, which was set up about 2 years ago using NETGEAR.
A couple of days ago, the internet just stopped working on the laptop (except for Skype).
It looks to me like the LAN is fine - it says it's connected, i can access the printers and shared files from the laptop. But I'm no expert.
I've made sure that the Windows firewalls are all turned off.

I've tried looking at the ipconfig /all and I think the problem may be there, but I wouldn't know what to do.
    The desktop says:
    ...
    Dhcp Enabled: No
    IP Address: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: (blank)

    The laptop says:
    ...
    Dhcp Enabled: Yes
    Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
    IP Address: 192.168.0.117
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1
    DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1

Sorry if there's way too much information here, but I was looking at the other threads trying to figure out what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

    Thanks.

I have changed the DHCP setting on the desktop, and now the Local Area Connection on the laptop has limited or no connectivity, when before it seemed to be working fine (just without the internet).

I went to the NETGEAR website and apparently, the model is end of line, so there have been no updates, etc. But it was working fine for over a year and then suddenly no internet on the desktop.

    Any ideas?

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Can anyone help with this?

    I'd be really really grateful.
