Network Camera & Router Setup Issues
Not 100% sure if I am in the right area, or if my questions can even be answered here, but I am having trouble setting up a network camera into my router/computer to view thru the net and so far Panasonic hasn't answered my email and it has been a few days now so I am not sure when or if they will even reply.
The camera is a Panasonic BL-C1A updated firmware to newest
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...s/model.BL-C1A
The router is a Linksys WRT56GS v7 updated firmware to newest
One wire from that router runs to my main pc room where I use a netgear rp114 hub with 4 ports on it to distribute signal to my series 2 tivo, my laptop, my main pc, and now this network cam as well.
I never did install the netgear RP114 software, maybe there is something in those settings thru that hub that needs to be enabled for upnp but in my router settings i did enable upnp, just thought this RP114 would just be a splitter so to speak for the internet connection.
I am running windows xp pro sp3 fully updated
Instructions are pretty straight forward, hook up the cam via rj45 to router, enable upnp in router (did that and confirmed it), install the software (went fine) and if I go to my browser and enter the local settings of 162.198.0.253 I can see and access the camera locally, there is also recording software that i can view adjust and record the camera with, so I have most everything working, except the feature I want, viewing thru the web (beyond my local settings address).
There is a tab in the setup for view on the web, it gets to a point where it tells you to confirm upnp is enabled (have done that) yet upon the final step of installation of the view on the net part, i get a failure that says
Failed to configure the router's Port Forwarding by UPnP.
The router may not support UPnP function or UPnP function is disabled.
Please enable your router's UPnP or configure Port Forwarding manually.
Went thru the manual a bit more it talks about default gateway settings (confirming those) I do know my default gateway info 168.192.0.1 but I don't see anywhere in the camera menus to see confirm or change that aspect, also says enable upnp in router (did that), also says disable antivirus and firewalls (did both of those too) re-ran the setup for viewing on the web same error message again.
This is the feature I bought the camera for, so that when I was at work or anywhere else I could get in and see my camera thru my network but it is the only feature of the unit I can't seem to get to work properly.
It did talk about setting it up manually but to be honest beyond my ssid and password changing adding wep etc I haven't messed with other settings (nor do i really understand them) so I am really not sure how I would go about setting this up manually or what else to check or do to possibly get it working.
Any input or advice appreciated if possible?
Bill

From the manual
http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/cgi-bin/p....cgi?s=upnp&m=
Problem:
There is an error when setting port forwarding using UPnP.
Answer... Reason
The broadband router's UPnP feature is disabled.
Refer to the documentation included with the broadband router and enable its UPnP feature.
>>>Nope I made sure my router has upnp enabled...
You turned on the camera first and then turned on the broadband router.
Turn on the broadband router first, then turn on the camera.
>>>Tried this too no help...
The series of numbers which determine the default gateway is not set correctly for the camera's network settings.
Enter the correct numbers. Consult your network administrator or service provider if necessary.
>>>I know my default gateway Run/Cmd/ipconfig 162.198.0.1 but not sure in the camera settings where I could check or apply this...
The broadband router does not support UPnP.
Refer to the documentation included with the broadband router and configure the broadband router for port forwarding.
I know my router has the option to enable it and i did, altho maybe since i am using that RP114 as a branch off to split the signal in my pc room here, maybe that has something to do with it. I will try to find the RP114 disc and install it, i plugged it in and it worked so I never installed any software for that particular thing.

I think this applys to me (lan being my local settings where I can see the camera) yet can't access it remotely from other computers via the net.
When the camera can be accessed over the LAN but not over the Internet
The default gateway is not set correctly for the camera's network settings.
Enter the correct numbers.
Consult your network administrator or service provider if necessary.
>>>again in camera menus i see nowhere to adjust this or check it even...
The broadband router's UPnP feature is disabled.
Refer to the documentation included with the broadband router and enable its UPnP feature.
>>>it is enabled on router and confirmed...
The broadband router is not configured for port forwarding.
Configure the port forwarding feature.
Refer to the documentation included with the broadband router.
>>>This i am not sure how to do or if it is the problem...
Packet filtering or a similar feature of the broadband router is preventing access from the Internet (WAN).
Configure the broadband router to allow it to be accessed from the Internet.
Refer to the documentation included with the broadband router.
>>>This i am not sure how to do or if it might be the issue...
You are trying to access the camera using the IP address used for local access.
Access the camera using either the domain name you received from the Viewnetcam.com service plus the camera's port number, or the global IP address of the broadband router plus the camera's port number.
>>>I did register with viewnetcam.com and got back from them a url they said to use to view the cam, i checked it no cam showing but it is because during the install process I get those upnp error messages...
You are trying to access the camera that is connected to the same LAN as the computer, but you are using either the domain name you received from Viewnetcam.com plus the camera's port number, or the global IP address of the broadband router plus the camera's port number.
To access a camera connected to the same LAN as the computer, use the camera's local IP address.
>>>I can access the camera locally thru the 162.198.0.253 in a browser but that is only locally on this at home setup, the viewnetcam.com setup (which i did and registered) gave me an address on the web to view my cam, I think my problem is during the install part for setting up for the web i got a upnp error, so I bet the url will be valid eventually once i get the install part to complete.

I found the RP114 disc went thru the book which told me how to get to the setup menus via browser, went thru all advanced maint and setup menus, no upnp stuff mentioned or option wise.
Googled RP114 + upnp and found this thread (a review)
http://www.dealtime.com/xPR-Netgear-...RD-68058058372
talking about no upnp support in this netgear router, I might go pull out a 75 foot rj45 plug this directly into the livingroom wrt56gs router (bypass this RP114) see if that fixes my error...
