Adding usb connection pc to wireless network?
Hi All.
I'm slightly embarrassed to ask but am really stuck so...
I have a three pc wireless network running trouble free.
I have reformatted my dads pc running XP pro and now want to validate and update everything but I can't connect to the existing network.
I have added it to the modem using the usb connection (no ethernet socket on pc) and have installed the latest driver downloaded from virgin media (ntl250 modem). But though it says it is connected via the icon on the bottom right of screen I cannot actually connect to the internet. I have tried various things (not an expert by any means) that I believe it might be, uninstalling/reinstalling, network set-up configuration etc but no joy. Absolutely flummoxed!
My next move will be to unplug the wireless router and reinstall the modem to the now wired pc but as a last resort(guess!).
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Dads pc:
XP pro
1.2ghz Duron
512Mb ram
30GB hd
32MB graphics

Hi again.
No responses so thought I'd have another attempt.
I switched off the modem, disconnected the wireless router, connected the usb cable between dad's pc and modem, fired up (modem first) and the pc found it straight away and had internet connection.
Reconnected the router but then wireless pcs wouldn't connect!
Must be something really silly but didn't have time (couldn't be bothered! lol) to mess about.
Validation and updates all done.
