    home networking xp and 2000

I need some assistance networking 2000 PRO and XP. I currently have DSL through Windstream, a speedstream 4200 Ethernet/USB ADSL modem, a Linksys 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch model number EZXS55W, on the XP computer I have two NIC's, one PCMCIA slot card and the other is a motherboard component, then on the 2000 pro computer I have a NEC 2000 Compatible card. I've googled problems relating to this but didn't really have a leg to stand on, if you will, for assisted help. What can I do to link the two PC's together so that they will recognize each other and begin sharing files and printer connections? I am receiving Internet with 1326 Mbps download and 326 Mbps upload on the 2000 pro according to speakeasy testing, so the internet isn't the problem. Any assistance/advice would be helpful.

Have you ever had a network set up with these components?

Can you describe what your current configuration is and also what you have tried?

In general you need to set your DSL modem as a bridge to the router.

I am not sure that your "switch" is capable of functioning as a "router" in this case.

Anyway answers to the above will help us help and hopefully another more network savvy member will chime in.
