    Comodo version 3

    XP + SP2, Toshiba laptop, 1Gb RAM,80Gb HD + 80Gb USB HD.
Have been trying to install Comodo v 3 for several weeks now, but keep getting a BSOD! At installation time it tells me to uninstall Norton firewall but I've never had (or would) have any Norton products... However I did find a couple of registry keys referring to Norton so deleted them, but still got the same message. Comodo installs for a minute or so then BSOD before I can Restart the system (as it requests). The support team seem to have given up as there's been no response from them for 10 days.
The following appears with the BSOD :

    0xc4(0x1001,0xBAE844D0,0x852A7788,0x0)
    inspect.sys - Address BAE844D0 base at BAE76000, DataStamp 475C6B86

Had uninstalled 'old' Comodo and 'cleaned' registry, disconnected from internet, removed other 'malware' programs and followed their instructions to the letter.

Would very much like to use the new version as (with the brief look I got)
it seems a greatly improved interface.

    Would greatly appreciate help.

Comodo is a great firewall as I have recently discovered when installing it to try it out. It is very strange that its coming up with errors about Norton being installed when you have never had it installed at any time. I would recommend trying to run the Norton Removal Tool to see if this solves the problem.

Thanks Owen. I now have no registry entries re Norton. Still get BSOD!

Would running HijackThis be of any help?
If so please give me instructions.

I did have a similar problem when attempting to re-install DBDesigner4, but as I had an alternative app., didn't persue it.
    Thanks again for your help.

Tried again - never realized I was so patient!
A suggestion in the forum was to define 3 network zones and also to check for updates, before entering into the 3rd phase of installation. Did all that and Comodo didn't crash! But then again I couldn't get any Internet access! Realized I'd entered the zones into the Exclude box... So I removed them and Yep it crashed! I think the Comodo team have given up on me as theres been no response from them. But this (acc. to some on the forum) seems par for the course.
Any more thoughts, or should I start looking for another Firewall!

I've had a little look and a cause of the problem could be a driver for your network device. Do you use an ethernet connection from the back of your PC to a router? If so, then you need to update your network card drivers. If you are not sure how to find out what network card/onboard LAN you have, then let me know and I'll guide you through the process of updating your drivers.

    Owen,
Tried to get new/updated drivers for my WiFi connection but was totally baffled. In fact things got so screwed up I had to do a Restore (using Acronis), fortunately it was only 1 hour old!
I know about getting into Dev. Manager etc. but I don't have a driver CD and I had the only driver listed installed.
    Thanks again.

    Help!
