my wierd internet connection, need some help plz.

I have recently moved to a 4th floor apartment where there is only AT&T and COX as my ISPs. So I chose ATT DSL with an wireless modem. Today is the 3rd day since the service activation day. AND on all these 3 days, the internet goes down around 8-9pm. On the modem appears the DSL light blinking on red (meaning it can't find signal from the phone line). It goes back to work after 1 to 2 hours. The rest of the time it stays perfectly fine: The speed is awesome, the signal is stable, etc. But like I said, it always disconnects around 8pm-9pm for the past 3 days. The ISP hasn't found a solving method yet and I just want u guys to write down what you think and what is likely the problem. Thank YOU~

It really does sound like a problem with the ISP if its dropping the connection when it runs fine usually because configuration settings don't temporarily wander away for an hour or so and then come back, if it works right normally, it should work right all the time. If it was turning off at a specific time rather that in a frame between 8 and 9, I would suggest that there may be some parental controls on the router set to prevent access at certain times or firewall settings. But since the time isn't specific I don't think it will be this and you are best off just waiting for AT&T to help you sort out the problem .

Did you know that new DSL installations can be temperamental for the first week or so whilst they test the optimum line speed? The idea is that they give you the fastest speed they can to start with and they test its reliability. Then they keep slowing it down to the point where you won't keep calling them saying it's dropping out. It does seem a bit odd that it would be off for an hour but I'm wondering if they've been adjusting your settings in the evening.
