Belkin Wireless Router - No Internet

    Hi

My internet browser (I.E. or Firefox) times out when trying to connect to the internet through my new wireless Belkin G router. Here are the facts: -

    1) I can access the wireless router admin page (192.168.2.1) and see the connection status is "connected".
    2) If I try to access i.e. www.yahoo.com via an internet browser, the page will time out.
    3) If I ping www.yahoo.com I get a reply immediately (i.e. it works this way).
    4) I've uninstalled all anti virus software incase that was blocking the applications.
    5) I can connect to an unsecure wirelss network in the area and view web pages using the same browsers.
    6) I can connect directly to my modem with an ethernet cable and I'll be able to see the internet pages.

I am a little bit confused as to why I cannot view internet pages using I.E. but am success when ping'ing a particular address. Any pointers in the right direction or further information required to help answer would be appreciated.

    Thanks

ok, does your PC lease an IP from the router?

alos check to make sure that the router itself is grabbing an IP from the modem, might have to get the modems IP address reset as well.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Also, go into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections and then click the LAN Settings button just to double-check that the 'Automatically detect settings' option is switched on.

You might also like to double-check the router configuration screens to see if there is a web filter or URL filter enabled as part of the SPI firewall configuration. That would let PING through but could be blocking any Internet traffic on port 80.
