Invisible Router - Please Help.
Hey,
I've been trying to configure my router to allow bit torrents to download at the maximum pace (4-20kps is for the lose). While I was doing this, I realized I cannot find my router. The router is a wireless (but two computers are connected via Ethernet cables, and 2 via wireless), I tried running cmd then typing "ipconfig" but the default gateway was merely my modem!
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated,
Router: Asus wl-520gc wireless router.
Thankyou,
Gog
Note:
I've looked everywhere for the manual but cannot find it =X, so I cant just look it up.

I am not too familiar with wireless networking but here is the manual for your router:

-
thanks a bunch for the manual, the manual gives an Ip address (192.168.1.1) which is an invalid address. Hmm, I have no clue what it could be, since ipconfig gives 10.1.1.1 as the default gateway (which is the modem, not the router)
O_o

Again I am not too experienced with networking but:
Did this network ever work OK?
You were saying: "trying to configure my router to allow bit torrents to download at the maximum pace "
Was everything working before this?
If not in general you need to set your modem as a bridge to your router.
How you do this depends on your brand of modem.

Fast response =)
I'll give you a quick rundown of our (my families) routing history.
We first had 3 computers connected via ethernet through a siemens speedstream router. Then we got another comp and the new asus router mentioned in this post. When we tried to connect wirelessly through just the asus router it didn't work, so we connected the modem to the speedstream to the asus. Today I was trying to get the bittorents to go faster, when I couldn't find any firmware upgrades for the speedstream (its old) to do any port forwarding, I decided I would try and connect all the net via the asus (the speed stream was very old and extremely unreliable anyway). Well now It's all working except for the fact I cant connect to the router.
I hope you can read that wall of text..I didn't use much grammar there. Oh also the modem connects to the LAN part of the router rather than WAN, I think this is the problem. It wont work when I connect it with the WAN.
-
As you see in the manual the WAN modem should go to the WAN router.
This might be a different modem configuration from your old router.
What is the make and model of the modem?
-
My old router went through the WAN port, the modem is : F1P1210ENau belkin
-
Again the best I can do is search and share:
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...210ENau+belkin
Anyway I just post for you to browse this as well.
Hopefully we will have a network guru pass through tomorrow.

Okay, thanks a bunch for your help.

You might try chapter 5 on this site:

Depending on your ISP provided modem (if applicable) this is a good resource.
