    Connection pronlem with PDA/Comodo

    Hi,

I have installed Comodo firewall and it appears to be working well. Unfortunately I cannot comunicate and update between my Dell 51v PDA and my desktop machine.

I get a message from comodo saying that rapimgr.exe which is an executable file in Microsoft ActiveSync I click 'allow' and 'always remember this answer' but the MS ActiveSync window just displays the message 'Connecting' but never does!

I don't want to switch off Comodo but also I do need to update my PDA as I need current information in it (diary, emails, etc).

    Many thanks

    Martin

You should at least try switching Comodo off just for a minute to see if Activesync then works. Otherwise you'll never know if the firewall is actually causing the problem or whether there is something wrong with the Activesync install.

Thank you DJNafey MS ActiveSync seems to be a bit of a weird program. I Reinstalled it several times trying different things - like firewall off/on etc. Suddenly all was well, my PDA locked in all the emails etc syncronised and it appeared that I had a connection.

I have just switched it back on in exactly the same configuration as the one that worked and now again all I get is the AcitveSync window with the word 'connecting' continually displayed. The only command that is not greyed out is file-> Delete Mobile Device - which I am loath to click. However, short of trying to reinstall I do not know what else to do!!!!

Shame really as I do need my PDA up to date with my calendar, emails etc.

Maybe I will see what happens if I click Delete My Mobile, as it is useless as it is.

    Regards

    Martin

PS Tried that now EVERYTHING is grayed out!

It's true that Microsoft Activesync isn't especially reliable. When I was having all sorts of trouble with one of my user's laptops, I found that upgrading to a newer version of Activesync helped. You can download Activesync 4.5 for free from Microsoft's web site here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en.
