I'm having a problem with a notebook from work. Its a brand new laptop, and as i am on the go alot i have a 3g O2 card installed.

It works great when connecting using VPN and receiving incoming emails etc. But i can't access the net... My first guess would be the active directory settings not being set up correctly or that the 3g card is not quick enough - but before i give it back to our IT guys is there anything you can think of that i can check on the laptop before making myself look like a fool by asking them?
Like i say all other connections are fine - just the net.

Firstly, I am no expert in these matters but experience of having a work laptop leads me to ask the following:

Open Internet Explorer and select Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings

Is there a tick in the proxy server box?

If so - untick and try again. If that doesn't work - ignore me

Thanks mate but i figured it out. Internet won't work if the vpn is active. once i disconnected that i had no problems.
