wi-fi message low connectivity
I am using an old Dell laptop with Windows XP using a Hawkin G wireless card. I have no trouble using my wi-fi at home. I have been unable to connect to a friends wi-fi (even though I have inserted their wep code) nor could I connect at the local library that has a free wi-fi hotspot.
Although it shows I am connected (excellent connection at the library) it also gives me the message "low connectivity you may have trouble accessing the internet." I get no internet connection at all.
I am not too tech savvy and was unable to figure anything out looking through the manuel for the card at the manufacturers website.
Thanks

I suspect that you have a fixed IP address or DNS server set up for your home network and that's stopping you getting onto the Internet via other wireless networks. To check this, go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Network And Dial-Up Connections. Right-click your wireless network connection and go to Properties. Scroll down in the list of check-boxes and double-click TCP/IP. If it is set to automatically detect an IP address and DNS servers, that should be OK. If you see numbers typed into the screen, then that's probably the issue.
