How do I set up a WEP for my wireless router

I have a router that gives out a wireless signal and I have used this connection with other devices that needed a signal. But the problem is I also see other neighbors connections but they are WEP protected and I wanted to also protect my wireless signal. My PC is connected with a Ethernet line and doesn't actually use a wireless signal.

This is done by going to the router setup page.

    Type 192.168.2.1

    into your browser window.
On most routers this will take you to the set up page.

If it doesn't, you will have to read the manual.

click on security, and go from there.

if you have a wireless router and no WEP key, neibours can connect to your network...

what is the make and model of your router?
    can you disable wireless?
I will try to help you further when i have the make and model of your router.

This changes slightly router to router... my old one was 192.168.1.1 my new one is 192.168.1.254... It depends on the make of the router...

but yes, it should be easy from the routers home page, they are usualy easy to follow

I wouldn't use WEP try WPA if you can.

Siemens Speedstream 6620 is the name of my router.

I just want to protect my wireless connection from others but I still want to use it with my other devices (Nintendo DS). So WEP or WAP is fine as long as I can still use my Nintendo DS. And I do not know how to disable it.

can you get to the homepage of the router?

to find out what it is go

start >> Run >> type in CMD click OK the type in ipconfig it should then give you something like

    IP address..............192.168.1.9
    Subnet mask...........255.255.255.0
    default gateway........192.168.1.1

the default gate way should be your routers homepage

    here's a WPA generator http://www.kurtm.net/wpa-pskgen/

Make sure you make a note of any password incase you want to go wireless
