hey everyone my home network is going under a refurb (at last)
i am wondering if this setup will work properly, baring i still have to get the parts yet, and so images of the things may be a bit different
also there is an error in the image 'doh', the external HDD (LAN enclosure) is connected straight to the first (wired)router, and PC is also connected to the first (wired) router
that for one, and because i already have a wired router, and there is too many devices to wire it all too, and i'm not too sure about the IPs changing as i host websites from the web server, so need to keep the static IP.
Also the wired is there because sometimes i have more computers in the network, so i do need the extra ports, also the wireless will be placed in my garage, and the wired router is in the study.
if you want to plug more wires into the router, you'll have to buy a switch....you can't just plug more into the router. THen you'll have to configure the ports after that...unless it's a 2950 or above, it should only have two ethernet or faethernet ports. But thats just me...everything else looks fine
i was thinking if i use my main router just to plug into my web server and the desktop PC and HDD (as pictured) , and then run a cable from one of the ports in the wired to the wireless' Router WAN port?
i thought that works, im ok with networking usually so shouldnt be too hard to configure ports and stuff =)
