    networking explained

Hi, not sure if this is the right forum, i have to do a 1000 word report (course work) on data transmission, which includes Simplex, Duplex, modulation etc. But the problem is i can only find a few sentences on each. Does anybody know of any web sites where i can get more info on these?

    Regards

    Boro

Are you doing a report on networking or on data transmission? Those two are completely separate fields.

Networking has to do with connecting computers together and making them talk to each other. Of course, data transmission is USED to achieve that. But nowadays, you are taking about two technologies: Ethernet for LAN and IP for WAN.

Data transmission has to do with transporting data from point A to point B. The data could be ANYTHING: Ethernet, IP, X.25, frame relay, TDM, ATM, etc. It can use copper wire, fiber optics, coax, rf (wireless) transmission, etc to achieve that. It could be a simplex, half duplex, or full duplex channel.

The point that I am trying to make, is for you to know what your report is going to focus on; networking. Or Data transmission? Your report can vastly vary depending on your title. Therefore, focus on the subject is needed to make it a good report.

Looks like you have everything under control.

When your report is done, you may want to consider taking advantage of the free proof reading service offered by Mr. paulthomasno6 (I believe dealine is Sep 30, 2007). See below for details:
