Looks Like I Have Lost Admin Right to One Computer

I have a problem with my LAN. The computer upstairs can see all computers down below (laptops and down stairs computer). However, other computers can not connect to the computer upstairs. When I am on the other computers, I open up the workgroup and I can see the ICON for the computer upstairs, but when I click on it, a message says connection failed and I can not connect because I may not have permission to connect to this computer. It says to see the Network Administrator. I can ping ALL computers from anywhere in any directions. So, there is no IP address issue. The problem that I have is I cannot access the files in the upstairs computer that have their file sharing tuned on and are on the same work group. I have run the XP’s home and small office network wizard on each computer several times, but that has not fix the problem. It seems that I have an access right problem with the upstairs computer. I see two problems with this computer. When, I try to turn the Firewall off or on , everything is shaded and I can not set Firewall on or off. When I go to Network Connection to activate the “Access Right”, under General Tab, I do not see anything for “INCOMING CONNECTION”. It seems that I am not logged in as Admin. However, on this computer (upstairs computer) under User Accounts, I only have two users: Guest which is turned off, and Owner which has admin right. There is NO password required for on any computer. However, for some reason the upstairs is not recognizing automatic admin login, to allow changing things (such as Firewall setting and Incoming Connection setting). I have tried to run the computer is Safe Mode and change thing to no avail. I even deleted the only one Profile for network on upstairs computer, with no success. Is there any way I can reset things to be able to activate “Incoming Connections”? As I said, there is no passwords involved, and the Owner in user account in upstairs computer has admin right. I want to be able to print from the darn printer attached to the upstairs computer from any other computer. I know this should be very easy thing to do by running the Network Wizard, creating work group, and enabling file and print sharing, but it has not been for me. As I said, I can ping things all over. So I do not have LAN problem. I have file sharing problem with the main computer. This problem is not going to be fixed with easy routines and obvious solutions. It requires more than that. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

All XP computers also have a built-in Administrator account which may help if it is not the account you use in general which it shouldn't be.

To make the option appear at login hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete (perhaps twice in succession if necessary). The account will be Administrator (unless you've re-named it: which you should) and the password will be blank if you have not created one: which you should. In general this account is never accessed except for emergencies thus maintaining it as an uncorrupted account.

To verify its' existence at the start Run... box type: control userpasswords2
