    Wireless network losing internet access

I have a Netgear wireless USB adapter on my Win XP PC. It connects to a Trendnet Wireless Router which plugs into my VoIP Telephone Adapter. The TA connects to a Cable Modem. Generally it works great. The problem happens when I come to the computer and wake it up from Standby mode. The wireless LAN indicator says I have a strong wireless connection, but I can't connect through to the internet.

If I unplug the USB Adapter and plug it back in, the connection resets and I get access. This doesn't happen with the other PCs that connect through the same Wireless Router. It drives my wife and daughter batty. Although consistently fixable it is very annoying for all concerned.

I've upgraded the Adapter's driver and the Router Firmware to the latest versions, but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

You may have strong signal but signal quality (or signal to noise ratio) may not be good. See how good is your signal quality. You can make these better by moving your computer around just by a few inches for best signal, as you are watching both bars (for h strength and quality) . Also, generally you have to wake the wireless adaptor up it give a few seconds so that it can wake up. Allow 30 seconds and click the Refresh button on IE a few times to activate connections. If that does not work, you need to get into your wireless adaptor IP setting to make verify set ups.

    Thanks joeofeg!

Quality was ok, but checking settings as you suggested seems to have solved the problem. The adapter's "Preamble" had been changed to "long", changing to "auto" has done the trick.
