    Home Network Printer Sharing Problem

    Hi

I have set up a home network between 2 desktop pcs with a wireless router. I can connect to the internet from both and can share files but when I try to add the printer that I wish to share I get problems. A message comes up saying "you are about to connect to a printer which will automatically install a print driver on your machine ......". I press ok and it then comes up with an error message - "the server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver click ok". I click ok but then it comes up with a window saying the file INF on (Unknown) is needed and comes up with a browse section to search a CD.

I have an Epson C62 Stylus printer which works fine on the computer that it is attached to - it came with a driver CD which was installed and I've never had any problems with it. I have spoken to Epson and they think that something is blocking the information from getting to the other computer. All my firewalls have been disabled and file sharing works so I'm a bit stumped. Can anyone please help.

    Thanks

    Helen

    Hi

Yes it is already set for sharing and has a shared hand on the icon. Any other ideas?

The easiest thing to do is pop the driver cd in your computer when it goes looking for the inf file. It should connect to the printer once it gets the driver sorted out.

    Hi

Thanks for that - I know that this may make me sound a bit stupid but I've tried putting the CD in but it asks me where I want to look on the CD and there are so many inf files on there I don't know where to look. It won't just let me type in D:\ and then look for it itself unless I'm doing something wrong.
    Help!

    Hi,

Now I did understand that you have two computers. Both are connected to a wireless router. And you have shared printer on PC1 and you would like to access the same printer from PC2.

    Now the first step is:

Start - Click on printer and faxes - And check if you see the printer that you have shared in PC1.

If not go to start - my network places - and on the left hand side click on the option which says ENTIRE NETWORK, In the list provided select the PC1 computer on which you have shared the printer. and then select the printer Double click on the printer and you will receive a prompt to add the printer.
Click on YES. This should resolve the issue.
