I have had this problem for the last couple weeks and I'm finally fed up with it to the point where I've been going to sites and calling people almost every day to try and figure it out.

For a while now neither my AOL dial up or my broadband has worked. I'm not exactly sure why but it says something to do with my firewalls and that I should try and check them. I've disabled anyone I can find. For AOL it sometimes comes up with Error 46 NPQE message. I've tried dissabling my AOL connective (in add/remove programs) but that hasn't helped either. Any help would be very much appreciated!

You've told us that you've disabled any firewall that you can find but I'm afraid that we don't know which ones you found so we'll have to ask you about them all again!

Have you switched off the Windows XP firewall on your dial-up connection?

Do you have any products from McAfee or Norton?

Do you have another firewall product (apart from the built-in XP firewall) that you are aware of?
