    Urgent Attention please. LAN-Ethernet mega lag.

    Hello,

    Please understand this requires urgent attention.

    My family has a network with 3 computers atm, via router one comp having an ethernet to give us the internet.

    Im experiencing major lag doing this...

    also one comp runs faster than the other, is there anyway to make it even or change which comp runs the fastest?

    One computer runs faster ..... when doing what? Is this just because it is a better computer or are they all the same spec?

    Are you experiencing one PC going slow on the Internet when all of the others are on the Internet or does one PC go particularly slow on the Internet if the other PCs are switched off? Is this anything to do with the Internet or something else?! You haven't really made it clear when you get the problem.

    One computer runs faster than the other via internet. EG. Internet explorer will load faster, downloads will go faster (this is the computer that has the ethernet cable). The other 2 go slower (only a bit) but when ones loading page or downloading the 2 slow ones go EXTREMELY slow, whereas the fast one slows down only a little bit. Funny thing is my comps the best (its the only one with 1gig of ram, has a sweet motherboad etc. and its the newest)

    You talk about one PC with an ethernet cable going faster than the other two. Is this your PC with 1GB RAM, etc? Is the ethernet cable going to the router or directly into the modem, so that this PC's Internet connection is shared to the others via Internet Connection Sharing? If your modem has an ethernet port, it should be connected to the router. That would mean that all of the PCs should have the same priority.

    How are all of the PCs connected to the router? Do the two slow ones connect wirelessly or through an ethernet cable between the PCs and the router? A wireless network connection will always run a bit slower than a cabled connection.

    Oops i meant to say, even tho my comps the best and newest, it dosen't run the fastest.
    here ill make it a bit clearer

    Comp #1. Internet = fastest buildup/make = middle average (512MB ram etc.)

    comp #2 (my comp) Internet=slowest, build/make = Top, Best. (1gig ram etc.)

    comp 3. Internet=slowest build/make=crappy-average (512mb ram etc.)

    THe modem is connected to the socket into the wall. A cable goes from the modem to the WAN in my router, then my router is connected to each computer via cables to LAN1, LAN2 and LAN 3.
