LAN Limited or no connectivity

LAN Limited or no connectivity
I set up a simple home network using the microsoft wizard between my brothers and my computer. Everything was working perfectly until recently. It appears that my brother has done something to the computer which has messed the network up. On both machines it says there is limited or no connectivity. I have tried clicking on the repair button but this does not work as i only get a message which says Windows was unable to renew IP address.
Can you help please?

OK, if your computer can't get an IP address, then your DHCP server isn't working. Are the two PCs connected together directly through a crossover cable or do they both plug into a central router?

It could be the port 80 is blocked. I've recently seen this with a user who had the same problem and we went through endless testing until a port scan showed it all. But thats far away yet.

The 2 pc's are connected directly to one another with a crossover cable. Not quite sure how to unblock port 80 if it is blocked though

Try going to the command prompt on each PC (Start menu > Run > cmd > OK) and typing in ipconfig /all to see the IP addresses and network adaptors in use on each one. If all is working correctly, you'll see each one listing a network card that has an IP address such as 192.168.0.1 etc. Each PC should have a different IP address.
If they are both the same, then we can manually change the TCP/IP settings on your Local Area Network Connection so that they have different addresses.
