Can't get my internet connection to work
I can't get my internet connection to work in my computer, and atm I can't use my own computer because I'm nowhere near it, so I'm now using my brothers comp.
I got RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC in the mothercard.
If I don't got a completely different PCI card, should I then plug it from the ethernet thing from the back of my comp to the modem (or wtf it is)? That's what I have done and it didn't work.
So now Im just wondering what can be the problem, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the computer and it's not the internet providers fault, because they've said everything should be ok.
Hope you can understand what I'm saying, I suck at explaining things in english.

Hi Buried,
Apart from the line that said "If I don't got a completely different PCI card......", which I didn't understand, your English is excellent
If you are using a broadband (DSL / ADSL) Internet connection, then you may have an external modem that has one USB port or one ethernet (RJ45) port. In this case, you can plug a standard ethernet cable (RJ45) cable into the network port at the back of your motherboard and connect it to the ethernet port in the modem.
If you are using DSL / ADSL and your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provided an external device that has more than one ethernet port, then it is a "router" which has a modem built into it.
The installation CD provided by your ISP should set this up correctly. Of course, you must have the modem or router also connected to your telephone socket or cable socket.
If you have a router which was not supplied by the ISP, then you will have to enter the configuration settings into the router so that it has your username and password to connect to your account with your ISP. This is usually done through a web page.
If this explanation does not help, please tell us if you have any specific error messages and also let us know which of those configurations you are using.
Thanks
