    WAN Miniport message

On a friend's recommendation, I downloaded and began using Mozilla Firefox (instead of Internet Explorer) for purposes of game-playing on pogo.com. He told me Firefox integrates much better with Java and will result in better performance. Indeed, when using Firefox there are many fewer movement delays/lags, and when they do occur they're of much shorter duration.

However, when entering a new game room (using Firefox and, now, for the first time, IE), a dialogue box appears: "Connecting through WAN Miniport (PPPOE)..." with a "cancel" button beneath. If I do nothing, about 20 seconds later appears another dialogue box: "Error 676: The phone line is busy" with "Redial = x" [x = number of seconds, counting down], "cancel" and "More info" buttons beneath. If I click on "cancel", the box disappears and I proceed to play normally. If I live it alone, I can still play normally, but it appears to be making repeated redial attempts. I have a DSL connection, too -- not dial-up.

I did a few Google searches, and everything I found was of a very technical nature that I couldn't understand. Do you have any information that could help me? Is there a setting deep in the belly of my beast that I need to change? I'd like to know why dialing attempts are being made when I already have connectivity! Thank you so much.

    Well try this,

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Optopns, "Connections" tab, check the box, "Never dial a connection", "Apply", OK
