Morning folks,

I have a problem at a friends house with their ADSL connection. They were on Wanadoo (which is now Orange) and have all the login details for their connection. It has workd fine without any problems for a full year until Sunday when the connection suddenly dropped.

They were using a Belkin router which can't seem to connect (the flashing ADSL light) so I tested the original USB modem into the PC (going back to the simplest connection form, etc), but still a flashing light on that too. This leads me to believe that there would be a problem with the phone line.

However, they rang up BT and asked them to perform line checks and everything came back fine and dandy. The only thing left to try for me today when I go back is to test the USB modem in the main phone socket downstairs (needed to come home to download drivers for it so I could test it with a laptop). I know that ADSL is generally meant to be connected to the main socket anyway, but surely it wouldn't have worked for a year in the upstairs one and then decided suddenly that it wasn't going to work any more??

Any help would be appreciated on this peoples

Cheers
Nick
