    File sharing problem

Hi, first post on here and I am hoping someone can help.

I hasve just set up a wireless network between my pc and new laptop using a Netgear router. I had problems getting it all to work originally so it was set up by a network engineer. Internet connection on both pc and laptop are working fine.

My problem is that I cannot share my files. I have run the wizards, checked the file sharing tabs etc but nothing. Also tried disableing norton on both but with no joy and windows firewall is turned off.

Both pc and laptop can ping the router but laptop cannot ping pc and vice versa.

Where am I going wrong? been going round in circles for two days now and beginning to tear my hair out.

I have made some progress since posting - not sure how! but I can now ping laptop to desktop and desktop to laptop.

When I view workgroups on my laptop I can now see my desktop computer but if I click on it I get the following message.
(desktop) is not accessable. you might not have permission to use this network resourse. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

When I try to view workgroups on my desktop I get the same message but it says MSHOME is not accessable blah blah blah.
