    wireless connection problems

OK, brief description of system. Desktop PC connects to Internet via BT Voyager Router. Laptop uses wireless connection. Daughters Laptop is only a couple of weeks old & connected easily to internet; worked perfectly until yesterday.
My daughter complained that there was no wireless connection available, little icon in system tray has a cross through it. Laptop runs XP Home & she is setup as a limited account. If I login in as administrator it will find the wireless connection & function OK. As far as I know no new software has been loaded, no changes made to any settings. It just stopped.
Had a quick look at the wireless connection settings & they all seem OK.
If I change my daughters login from limited account to admin she still cannot connect to wireless.
Just created a new limited account & that can connect to the wireless network.
Ran the wireless network wizard to create a new connection but this made no difference.

Bit stumped as to what the problem is & how to cure? Any advice gratefully received.

    thanks in advance

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

What security are you using on the wireless set up, is it set as a secure connection.

if your daughter logs on goes to network connection, wireless then ask it to find all available wireless networks does your network show up?

Thanks for response. I am at work at present so can't check exact settings, but security is enabled. But as I said originally, no settings appear to have changed.
If we right click on the icon in the system tray to show connections none are available.

    Will check actual settings later.
    many thanks

have you tried connecting with a cable (I know it defeats the wireless) but that eliminates all other problems.

then go to network connections remove the wireless connection and create a new account see if it can find the network card

Fixed it, well more worked around it.
Copied all daughters files into new working account I created. Renamed her account to xxx_old & renamed new account to what hers used to be.
    All works perfectly!

A bit annoying not knowing what happened, but its working.

    Thanks for advice
