Wireless connected - IE wont???
I have just gone through a rather tortuous process of installing a wirless network and connecting a PC using a USB dongle. I'm still not entirely sure if I have done it right but I do at least have a signal showing the remote PC is connected to the router.
Trouble is when I open up Internet Explorer I get the message 'No Connection is Available etc' and click 'Try Again'. All I get then is 'Page cannot be displayed'. Is there some other infuriating set of adjustments I have to make that conveniently neither the (crap) one sheet instructions for the router cover or indeed the USB wireless dongle. I'm beginning to wish I'm merely trailed a bloody cable up the stairs now.
Any help much appreciated - before pieces of IT start flying up the wall!!!!!!

have you got security enabled
is a firewall blocking anything
-
No, both disabled. I think it might be the sitecom widget that's U/S. It will not even detect the wireless network when instructed to 'check for available' etc. My laptop picks it up and allows connection without hassle.

can you disable the wireless on your laptop and try the USB dongle thingy in the laptop, that'll tell you whether it's the dongle or not.
does the dongle have any software to install?
-
I think it's the dongle or its software. Instaled it in another PC. Nothing. Won't detect the network.
