    Unhappy Telewest Broadband/Wireless connectivity!!!!Aaaahhhhhh!!!

    Hi everyone,
Have just purchased a new Laptop (Compaq Pressario), and I've a Broadband account with Telewest here in the u.k.
Have configured the router, following the idiot guide (and believe me I need it!). When looking at the tool-bar on the bottom of the screen, it shows the icon for wireless networking. When moving the cursor over it , it states wireless network connected with excellent signal strength. But when I click on my internet explorer icon, it just comes up with the browser screen, saying searching fo blueyonder, but will not connect.
Any clever people out there, who can help me with this?

    Many Thanks

    Dave

    Hi,
I do see Blueyonder as my default web page. My nextdoor neighbour has recently installed a Linksys wireless modem with telewest. Could this affect my connection?

    regards

    are you using WEP Encryption

    Hi,
When I look at other wireless networks nearby, I'm pretty sure it's my neighbours Linksys which is showing, in addition to mine. Which is just shown as the default connection.

    Ooopss,
I forgot about you other question. I'm not really sure what incription I initially set up. There were, I think three options given; Disable/128 Bit (whatever that means!) and WEP (and I don't know what that means either I'm affraid).

    Regards

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
try setting the security to disable to try.

128 bit is normally 26 Hexadecimal characters

The Hexadecimal Number System, uses base 16

    includes only the digits 0 through 9 and the letters A, B, C, D, E, and F

WEP is Short for Wired Equivalent Privacy, a security protocol for wireless local area networks (WLANs)

sorry for being late to get back to you
