    Bandwidth Monitoring

I'm with TalkTalk ISP......... sigh and I Need to check on how much bandwidth I am using p/month.

One of my kidz has been playing online interactive games: World of Warcraft & Dawn Of War, being a bit of a dumbass I didn't know these games use quite alot of Bandwidth, thus TalkTalk blocked my P2P ports. I originally signed up for Unlimited but in conjunction with other ISPs TalkTalk have introduced FUP of around 40GB p/month

I have searched on Google for bandwidth monitors, but these seem way to complicated for me to understand and configure.

Could anyone please recommend a very simple and easy to understand way of monitoring how much bandwidth I am using? Possibly something in the way of a simple bar chart type of thing which just says uploads/ downloads/ total, I don't need a complicated histogram which monitors how much bandwidth every webpage users, just a daily/weekly log. I saw exactly what I needed on an ISP forum from google but of course you had to be subscribed to that particular ISP. I have emailed TalkTalk asking if they have something similar for TalkTalk subscribers but no one seems to know and they don't bother getting back to me, I don't see why I should spend a fortune in phone calls to them when I am trying to toe their line, if they are going to impose a FUP policy I feel they should at least provide subscribers with the means of staying within it. OOps didn't mean to turn a simple question into a rant

I am using a Safecom Swart2 54125 router with 2 pcs & windows XP SE

Yes I have got netmeter as well. Under options you must remember to tick the box Load on windows startup. I didn't and wondered why it wasn't working.

I don't blame you for ranting. I signed up for unlimited and uncapped but F2S introduced a 100g cap per month and have now got rid of that to add a fair usage policy. The trouble is no one knows what they class as fair usage.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Thank You.

brain_damage, I have downloaded Netmeter and am about to install it. The first of the month is a good time to start monitoring.

Jaynee, thank you for the start up tip, it would be just like me to think I am hardly using any bandwidth at all and not to realise the meter not running
