    home network problem

My home network has a laptop linked to a desktop via a crossover cable.
The desktop lnks to the internet via broadband

The IP addesses are 192.168.0.1 for the desktop and 192.168.0.2 for the laptop. The mask is 255.255.255.0

I can see each machine from the other and see the folders and files of each machine from the other.

But, I can't get the laptop to connect to the internet via Internet Explorer

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Rannoch

I don't have a specific answer but here is a general guide:

Set up a new LAN connection from the wizard, created the diskette, and installed on the laptop.

Had the desktop and laptop IP addresses set to 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 and that had given be windows explorer connection, but not internet.

I changed that to auto find IP address and internet connection was established.

I'm sure this PC has 666 in the serial number as I now have another annoying hardware problem.
