Wireless network issue

Wireless network issue
I am operating a wireless network via a Linksys Router WAG 54G with a Desktop (my main PC) linked to a laptop. The system used to work, but no longer. The PC and the laptop can use the internet via the wireless network, but cannot file share or printer share. After much checking and fixing (Pinging, which failed on the Desktop, DNS flushing etc) nothing worked so I decided to setup the network from new.
The laptop can see both PCs when I go to My Network Places, but not the Desktop. I now receive a message from the Desktop that the wizard for setting up the wireless network cannot create a network either "because a wirless network adapter is not installed or because software for the wireless adapter is not installed". I find this strange as the system has worked fine for many months and I have not made any alterations to the network adapters. I have checked via the Device Manager and the adapter works fine and there are no issues with the driver. As to the software I am baffled. I did not realise I needed any software!
Any thoughts welcome!

I seem to have resolved the issue! I thought I would post it in case anyone has similar problems. The "rogue" element was Symantec Norton Firewall. There are 2 options
1. Turn it off completely, though this leaves the PC open to attack. Perhaps just have it open for the time you require to share only (and pray!)
2. Go into the Network tab under the Firewall and allow the IP address of the PCs which feature in your network.
I checked on the web to see if other people had similar problems and there were tons! The later option worked for some people, so it is worth trying that first.
Hope this is of help to someone.
